In exercise of the powers conferred by section 143 of the Bombay Prohibition Act, 1949 (Bom. XXV of 1949), and in supersession of all the notifications in so far as they relate to the import, export, transport, sale, use or possession of denatured spirit, the Government of Bombay hereby makes the following Rules, namely:

- These rules may be called the Bombay Denatured Spirit Rules, 119591
- 2(2) They extend to the whole of the State of Maharashtra.2
- "Act" means the 1Bombay Prohibition Act, 19491
- 2(1a) "bottle" for the purpose of these Rules means a bottle having a capacity of 650 millilitres of any liquid;2
- "denatured spirit" means rectified spirit denatured in accordance with the 3process described in the Form D.S.1.3
