An Act to amend and consolidate the law relating to the promotion and enforcement of and carrying into effect the policy of Prohibition and also the Abkari law in the 1State1 of Bombay.
Whereas, it is expedient to amend and consolidate the law relating to the promotion and enforcement of and carrying into effect the policy of Prohibition, and whereas it is also necessary to amend and consolidate the Abkari law in the 1State1 of Bombay for the said purpose and provide for certain other purposes herein after appearing; It is hereby enacted as follows:—
CHAPTER I.
Preliminary.
1. Short Title, Extent and Commencement. संक्षिप्त नाव, व्याप्ती व प्रारंभ.
(1) This Act may be cited as 2the Maharashtra Prohibition Act.2
(2) It extends to the whole of the 4State of Maharashtra4
(3) It shall come into force 5in the area comprising the pre-Reorganisation State of Bombay5 on such date as the 6State6 Government may by notification in the Official Gazette 7specify7.
