shall decide whether or not the liquor is required by the person for sacramental purposes.

(5) The decision of the 1Commissioner]1 under sub-section (4) shall be final.

46. Visitor's Permit

2(1) The State Government may, by rules or an order in writing, authorise an officer to grant a visitor's permit for the purchase, possession, use or consumption of foreign liquor to a person who—2

  1. (a) is a citizen of a foreign country, or a citizen of India and resides in any part of India, where consumption of alcoholic liquor is not generally prohibited by law; or
  2. (ii) is a citizen of a foreign country, or a citizen of India and resides in any part of India, where consumption of liquor is prohibited by law, but has been consuming such liquor under permit or other authorization; and
  3. (b) visits the State for a period of not more than a week.

(2) Such permit shall be granted ordinarily for a period not exceeding one week at any one time; but may be extended from time to time for further periods not exceeding one week at a time, so however that the total period shall not exceed in the aggregate one month.

46A. Tourist's permit.

3(1) The State Government may, by rules or an order in writing, authorise an officer to grant3 4a tourist's permit4 to consume, to use and buy foreign liquor to a person who is a tourist.

(2) A tourist's permit may be granted for the period of the tourist's intended stay in the 5State5, but shall in no case be granted for a period exceeding one month.

(3) Such permits shall be available at such places as may be 6fixed6 by the 1Commissioner1 in this behalf.

47. Interim permits. अंतरिम परवाने.

(1) Notwithstanding anything contained in sections 840A and 418 the 9State9 Government may, by rules or an order in writing, 10authorize an officer to10 grant interim permits to persons applying for permits under any of the said provisions.

(2) Such interim permits shall not be granted for any period exceeding two months.
