What Changed:
The Government of Maharashtra (Home Department) has issued a comprehensive Government Resolution establishing the jurisdiction and cadre structure of supervisory posts (Inspectors, Deputy Inspectors, Assistant Deputy Inspectors, and Constables/Jawans) across excise-licensed manufacturing and trading facilities. Previously, 635 supervisory posts existed; the decision now authorizes an additional 479 posts, bringing the total to 1,114 supervisory positions. The allocation is based on revised criteria tied to license type, production capacity (measured in liters), and the number of operating units/facilities. Supervisory personnel salaries are to be recovered from the relevant licensees as per Section 58(a) of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, 1949.
