Preamble text (verbatim): "Whereas the Government of Maharashtra considers that the following Toddy (Manufacturing, Possession and Consumption) Rules, 1961, should be brought into force on 1st day of April 1961; Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 52 and 53 and clause (e) of sub-section (2) of section 143 of the Bombay Prohibition Act, 1949 (Bom. XXV of 1949), the Government of Maharashtra is pleased to make the following Rules, namely;—"

Enables domestic (non-commercial) manufacture, possession and consumption of toddy by residents of the Sironcha Tahsil and specified Gadchiroli Tahsil villages of Chanda District (as listed in the Schedule). Five rules: (1) short title + extent + commencement (1st April 1961); (2) application to Collector of Chanda / Tahsildar of Gadchiroli or Sironcha, in writing or orally; (3) grant of licence on payment of 75 paise fee, considering the general backwardness and habits of the applicant's community, with reasons recorded for refusal; (4) licence expires on next 30th June; (5) licensee may tap only trees authorised in the licence. चंदा जिल्ह्यातील सिरोंचा तहसील आणि गडचिरोली तहसीलातील विनिर्दिष्ट गावांच्या (अनुसूचीत सूचीबद्ध केल्याप्रमाणे) रहिवाशांना ताडीच्या घरगुती (गैर-व्यावसायिक) निर्मिती, ताब्यात ठेवणे आणि वापरासाठी सक्षम करते. पाच नियम: (१) संक्षिप्त नाव + विस्तार + प्रारंभ (१ एप्रिल १९६१); (२) चंदाच्या जिल्हाधिकारी / गडचिरोली किंवा सिरोंचाच्या तहसीलदार यांना लेखी किंवा तोंडी अर्ज; (३) ७५ पैसे शुल्क भरल्यावर, अर्जदाराच्या समुदायाची सामान्य मागासलेपणा आणि सवयी विचारात घेऊन परवाना मंजूर करणे, नकार दिल्यास कारणे नोंदविणे; (४) परवाना पुढील ३० जून रोजी संपतो; (५) परवानाधारक फक्त परवान्यात अधिकृत केलेल्या झाडांचे छेदन करू शकतो. खालील मजकूर मुद्रित पृष्ठे २१६–२१८ वरून शब्दशः लिप्यंतरित केला आहे.
Short title, extent and commencement शीर्षक, व्याप्ती आणि प्रारंभ
These Rules may be called the Toddy (Manufacture, Possession and Consumption) Rules, 1961.
2[They extend to the area of the Chanda District specified in the Schedule to these Rules.]
They shall come into force on and with effect from the 1st day of April, 1961.
या नियमांना ताडी (निर्मिती, ताब्यात ठेवणे आणि वापर) नियम, १९६१ असे म्हटले जाऊ शकते.

Application for licence परवान्यासाठी अर्ज
Any person desiring to manufacture and possess toddy for domestic consumption may apply either in writing or orally to the Collector of the Chanda district or the Tahsildar of Gadchiroli or Sironcha for a permit in that behalf.
घरगुती वापरासाठी ताडी तयार करण्यास आणि ताब्यात ठेवण्यास इच्छुक कोणतीही व्यक्ती त्या संबंधी परमिटसाठी चंदा जिल्ह्याच्या जिल्हाधिकारी किंवा गडचिरोली किंवा सिरोंचाच्या तहसीलदार यांना लेखी किंवा तोंडी अर्ज करू शकते.
Grant of licence परवाना देणे
The Collector, or as the case may be the Tahsildar may, having regard to the general backwardness of the people and the habits thereof to which the applicant belongs, grant the applicant a 2[licence] in the form thereto, on payment of a fee of 2[seventy-five paise] or may, after giving the applicant an opportunity of stating his case, and after recording his reasons therefore, refuse to grant the 2[licence].
जिल्हाधिकारी, किंवा प्रसंगानुसार तहसीलदार, अर्जदार ज्या लोकांचा आहे त्यांचा सामान्य मागासलेपणा आणि त्यांच्या सवयी विचारात घेऊन, अर्जदाराला २[पंचाहत्तर पैसे] शुल्क भरल्यावर त्या नमुन्यात २[परवाना] मंजूर करू शकतात किंवा, अर्जदाराला आपली बाजू सांगण्याची संधी दिल्यानंतर, आणि त्यासाठी कारणे नोंदवल्यानंतर, २[परवाना] देण्यास नकार देऊ शकतात.
Duration of licence परवान्याचा कालावधी
No such 2[licence] shall be granted for a period beyond 2[30th June] next following the date of commencement of the 2[licence].
