9. Distillation उर्ध्वपातन
The gravity of the fermenting wash in each wash-back shall be ascertained at least twice a day; i.e. in the morning and evening. When a stationary gravity is reached, and shows no further decrease, a sample of the wash shall be taken for ascertaining the percentage of alcohol contents there of The licensee shall then remove the wash to the still for distillation and give the Distillery Officer in Form VI at least one hour's notice of his intention to remove the wash for distillation:
Provided that, in case of any emergency, such as choking of valve or pipes of the wash-back under operation, the licensee may remove the wash to the still without giving an hour's notice, but he shall immediately inform in writing the Distillery Officer to that effect
After the distillation is complete, the Distillery Officer shall gauge the contents of the receiver into which spirit was received and make a note to that effect in the survey register in Form III. The whole process of distillation shall be carried on under the supervision of the Distillery Officer.
1The distillation efficiency shall be 97 per cent, in both, batchwise and continuous fermentation process and it will be in direct proportion to the grade of the molasses. A chart specifying the yield of spirit against a given grade molasses is as follows:1
Grade of molasses T.R.S. (Total Reducing Sugar) Recovery of Spirit per M.T. of molasses minimum A.L (Alcohol Litre) B.L (Bulk Litre) R.L (Proof Litre) A 50 and above 233 245 407 B 44 to 49.9 194 203 338 C 40 to 43.9 150 156 262 Explanation.—In order to determine the yield of spirit, following two factors shall be considered,—
the molasses used for distillation in the given month; and
the count of fermentable sugar in molasses which was used for distillation in the given month
