FORM XII is a monthly register-type statement in which a distillery reports the details of a distillation run that yielded less spirit than the prescribed minimum, namely under 42.5 proof litres per quintal of mhowra flowers or 36.5 proof litres per quintal of molasses. It is filed by the licensed distillery whenever its outturn falls below these norms, and it records the quantity of raw material used, the spirit expected, the spirit actually produced, the shortfall, and the reasons for it. The form is prescribed under rule 13 (3) of the Maharashtra Distillation of Spirit and Manufacture of Potable Liquor Rules, 1966.
